In this article, the author was informing the readers about the possible extraterrestrial bacteria that a Russian cosmonaut discovered on the ISS. Prior to each launch, the cosmonauts do a routine check throughout the ship. As well as, doing numerous swap tests on microorganisms while in space. During one test, was when Shkaperlov, the cosmonaut, discovered the bacteria. It was believed to be accidentally carried into space on one of the tablet PCs abroad the ship. The author writes using a complex diction due to the fact that they article is about science and interspace travel. Throughout reading the article, there was not much of an emotional connection with the readers.
The author appealed to both logos and ethos. The author included the various routine tests that had to be done while aboard the space ship and why they had to do them, so that qualifies as logos. For ethos, some of the other cosmonauts aboard gave statements of what the thought the microorganism was. As well as, how it got onto the ship. The tone the author used was very formal. I was able to analyze what the purpose of the article was. It was to inform the readers that Russia has discovered a bacteria aboard their ship that might be considered extraterrestrial.
